I wish there was a way to close the lid & utilize the de icer

Hi Melissa,

The water silo is designed with a channel under the hinge for the power cord for the deicer so you can open and close the lid with the deicer installed. You just need to remove the lid with a 7/16' scoket wrench and then push the cord into the recessed channel in the lid hinge. Then reattach the lid and you are good to go.

Not compatible

We received this item in a timely manner but the heater literature states that it is not compatible with plastic containers. The Coopworks waterer is plastic.

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for letting me know anout your concern about the deicer. We use the Farm Innovators 250w deicew which is designed to use in 5 gallon plastic buckets. It has a thermostat so it turns on when the water reached 35 degrees and turns off when it reached 35 degrees. It soesn't get too hot and is totallly safe to use with the CoopWorx water silo.

I will be glad to offer a full refund if you would like to return it.

Got the water heater to go along with the water silo and it has been a great edition no issues and the water has not frozen.
